I am extremly passionate about our armed forces. I was raised to always wave Old Glory, proud and bright, in spotlight.
“Our flag represents a living country and is itself considered a living thing.” -Flag code
“A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to preserver and endure is spite of overwhelming obstacles. -Christopher Reeves
I asked the heads under my roof who they thought a ‘hero’ was… “A hero is someone who makes a difference, positive difference, in the lives of others.”
“When I hear and see siren lights; they are going to save someone! That’s a hero.” “Someone who goes above and beyond.. I man I’d like to be in a fox-hole with.”
I’m stronger because I had to be, I’m smarter because of my mistakes, happier because of the sadness I’ve known, and now wiser because I learned. While this sounds like it sums up life pretty well… military families live life at a different level. They have so many different challenges that come fairly consistently. In the end, military families learn to savor life on such a different level.
Have you spoke with a military spouse? They can fill you in on American bravery… They’ll say you don’t know real love until you’ve wiped the tears from his eyes, waited out those long sleepless nights for months all for one kiss, replayed saved voicemails over and over again just to hear his voice again, stalked your mailman in hopes of getting a letter. You don’t know real love until you’ve loved a military man, they say.
To the girlfriends, boyfriends, husbands, wives, dads, moms and families whos lives are known to this, I respect you, I salute you.
IT IS OUR DUTY TO SERVE THOSE WHO SERVE US!
Anyone can give up, it’s the easiest thing to do. But to hold it together when all others understand if you’d fell apart, that’s true strength.
WE salute you.
WE are praying with you.
What Is A Veteran? A “Veteran” – whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve – is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to “The United States of America,” for an amount of “up to, and including his life.”
You are our heroes!
